An artist and ex-wife of a top CIA official, Mary Pinchot Meyer was shot and killed on October 12, 1964 on a towpath in Georgetown, Washington, D.C. Known as a mistress of John Kennedy, the shadowy events before and after Meyer's murder have kept her death a concern of people today.

Jim Marrs's book, Crossfire: The Plot That Killed Kennedy, lists Mary Pinchot Meyer's death as one of the mysterious deaths associated with the John F. Kennedy Assassination.
