Matt Groening

Matt Groening (born 15 February 1954) is an American cartoonist, screenwriter and producer, and has created two successful series: The Simpsons (1989-present) and Futurama (1999-2003, 2007-present). Groening has named the Simpson family characters after his own family, with the exception of Bart, since he didn't want to use his own name. Groening has been awarded with 12 Emmy Awards: ten for the Simpsons and two for Futurama and was ranked fourth in a list of the "top 100 living geniuses".
