Megamouth shark

The megamouth shark is a deepwater shark discovered in 1976. It is a philtre feeder (feeds on plankton and jellyfish). Its name come from its characteristic head with rubbery lips and its big mouth which can open up to 1.3 m, and it also have luminous photophores around it to atrack the small fishes. Megamouths can length up to 5.5m and weight up to 1215kg (males, females are smaller). Megamouths are ovoviviparous, they reproduce through eggs in the mother's womb until they hatch.
