Memphis

In Egyptian history, Memphis was the ancient capital of Lower Egypt, founded by a pharaoh named Menes around 3000 BC. Memphis played an important role throughout ancent Egyptian history, and is now home to ancient necropolises and some of the most famous pyramids of Egypt, including Giza, Abut Sir, Dahshur, and Abu Ruwaysh. This areas was deemd a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1979.
