Michigan, nicknamed "The Wolverine State," is a U.s. state located in the Great Lakes Region of the U.S. It is the 8th most populous state in the United States and the 26th state. It entered the Union Jan. 26, 1837. Michigan is bordered by Wisconsin, Lake Superior, Canada, Lake Huron, Ohio, Indiana, Lake Michigan. Lansing is the state capital but other major cities include Detroit, Grand Rapids, Warren, Sterling Heights, Flint, Ann Arbor, Livonia, Dearborn, and Westland.
