Nicanor Parra

(1914 - ) Nicanor Parra Sandoval is a Chilean poet, mathematician and physicist whose work has had a profound influence on Latinoamerican literature. It is also considered the creator of the anti-poetry. In December 2011, at age 97, he was awarded the Cervantes Prize for his whole work. In September 2010, just after turning 96 years old, he began a hunger strike in support of the thirty Mapuche commoners who fasted since the 12th of July of that year.
