Q school
Short for "Qualifying School", a term used to indicate the preliminary competition an aspiring player must survive in order to qualify for The PGA Tour.
In the final stage of "The PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament", candidate golfers play six rounds in six days. The top 35 finishers receive a tour card for the following season.
However, players who fail to gain a tour card can still play in selected PGA Tour events with sponsor exemptions or with exemptions earned from previous tour play.
Actually this term is used to describe the distinct qualifying schools for any of the major tours, including the LPGA, the Senior's Tour and the Futures Tour.
