RNA single-strand conformational polymorphism (rSSCP)

A variant of the SSCP technique for detection of mutations in a DNA fragment in which mobility shifts of bands of mutant compared with normal DNA are more pronounced. A phage promoter is added to one of the PCR primers to allow production of an RNA transcript that is then analysed for altered electrophoretic bands on non-denaturing gel electrophoresis.
