The belief that the true Christian church died out in the early 2nd Century CE, and was restored by Joseph Smith when he established the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS, Mormon). This movement currently consists of almost 100 denominations, many centred in Utah and Missouri.
