Romanus

114th Pope of the Catholic Church. Pontificate 897 - 897. He was elected to succeed the murdered Pope Stephen VI and was deposed a few months later by one of the factions, which then governed Rome. His short rule was regarded as a virtuous one by the historian Frodoard. He ended his days as a monk, although this may mean simply that he was deposed. His date of death is unknown.
