Saab Gripen

Saab Gripen is a lightweight engine multi-role fighter manufactured by the Swedish aerospace company Saab. It is a low cost, low maintenance the fourth generation fighter jet with a top speed of Mach 2.

designed to replace the Saab 35 with the Dragon and 37 Viggen in Swedish air force Gripen features, delta wings and canards, in addition to the relaxed stability design and fly-by-wire technology. It is powered by Volvo Aero RM12 engine, a derivative of the General Electric F404, with modifications in the fan, Afterburner flame holder and accessories, partly to make it more suitable for a single engine aircraft.

The Gripen is fitted with an Ericsson PS-05/A pulse Doppler radar able to identify the anchored ships, and after road traffic for at least 90 miles. it is also able to discover the typical fighter size targets at 120 km.

relative to the United States F-16 fighter aircraft, Gripen is a good choice as an aire-to-is the fighter with good air-to-ground capabilities to defend the air space is required. The F-16 is a good choice when longer range and good load is factored into consideration.
