(1977- ) Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll is a Colombian singer. She is a native Spanish speaker and she can also speak English and Portuguese. She is the highest-selling Colombian artist ever, and the second female Latin singer after Gloria Estefan.

Shakira has released several albums: Magia (1990), Peligro (it's considered a promotional album for the TV series The Oasis that Shakira starred), Pies Descalzos (1995), Dónde Están Los Ladrones? (1998), Laundry Service (2001, the first album in English), Fijación Oral Vol. 1 and Oral Fixation Vol. 2 (2005 Spanish and English version), She Wolf (2009) and Sale el Sol (2010).

Shakira founded in 1995 the foundation Pies Descalzos which have special schools for poor children all around Colombia. She is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. In 2010 she became the celebrity spokesperson for the Freixenet traditional Christmas TV commercial and she also began her own beauty line, "S by Shakira," with parent company Puig, in 2010.

She dated Antonio de la Rúa (the son of the former President of Argentina) for eleven years. Since 2011 she is dating a Spanish football player called Gerard Piqué.
