Tallow Candle

Tallow Candle is the name of an early work by Danish 19th Century children's writer Hans Christian Andersen. The short storey is about an old and grimy candle whose beauty is finally recognised when it is ignited. Experts believe it was written in the mid-1820's when Andersen was at grammar school because of its relatively simplistic style.

It was discovered in October 2012 at the bottom of a box in the National Archives of Funen by Historian Esben Brage.
