Tanya Savicheva
Tatiana Nikolayevna Savicheva (23 January 1930 - 1 July 1944) was a Soviet child diarist who endured the Siege of Leningrad during World War II. She was the youngest of five children and had to dig trenches and put out firebombs at the age of 11 to help the war effort. After her elder sister was evacuated (the family believed she had died), Tanya was given her diary, which she used to note the dates and times of the deaths of her family members. The diary notes six deaths, at a rate of about one a month from December 1941 to May 1942. The final entry states "Savichevs died. Everyone died. Only Tanya is left". Tanya was evacuated after the siege but died from tuberculosis in July 1944.
