In Chinese philosophy, the Way, or the ultimate and eternal principle of unity, meaning, and harmony in the universe.
Tao represents the natural order of the universe as a whole, and also the path for synchronizing or aligning oneself with that order. Tao can be understood to a degree by adopting certain virtues (in Chinese, these virtues are known as Te or De) that derive from Tao.
