The Big House, is a 1930 film that was written by Joseph Farnham, Martin Flavin, Frances Marion and Lennox Robinson, and directed by George W. Hill. It starred Robert Montgomery, George F. Marion, Chester Morris, Lewis Stone, and Leila Hyams. Marion won the Academy Award for Best Writing Achievement. Douglas Shearer also won the first Academy Award for Sound. Wallace Beery was nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role and the film was nominated for Best Picture.
