The Hobbit is an upcoming fantasy-adventure film trilogy based on J. R. R. Tolkien's novel of the same name. The three films are subtitled; An Unexpected Journey (2012), The Desolation of Smaug (2013) and There and Back Again (2014).They are directed, co-written and produced by Peter Jackson. The series is a prequel to Jackson's The Lord of The Rings trilogy, and shares many of the same cast and production team.
