The Metamorphosis is a novella written by Franz Kafka, originally in German, first published in 1915. The storey follows the life of Gregor Samsa, a travelling salesman, after he awoke to find himself transformed into a insect-like vermin. It's original title was "Die Verwandlung"(German) and is an example of absurdist fiction.
