The University of Akron

The University of Akron (UA) is a public, multipurpose institution founded in 1870 as Buchtel College. It came under city control in 1913, and joined the state university system in 1967. Located on a 218-acre campus of modern buildings, it is also within walking distance from downtown Akron. UA offers more than 300 undergraduate and graduate programs, including many that are recognised nationally for their excellence.
