Willian Borges da Silva

Willian Borges da Silva or short Willian (born August 9, 1988 in Ribeirão Preto) is a Brazilian football player. He is currently playing as an attacking midfielder or winger for Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala. He also played in Seleção, a Brazilian football team.

Willian started his professional career in 2006 at the Brazilian club Corinthians in São Paulo, he played in the youth teams until 2005. He quickly became the star of the team and wore the famous number 10, which was previously worn by Márcio Amoroso. In August 2007 he was signed by Shakhtar Donetsk for 14 million euros. In his first season with the club, he won the Double. They won the league by 3 points over Dynamo Kyiv and also beat them 2-0 in the Ukrainian Cup Final. In the 2008/09 season with a 2-1 after extra time Donetsk won against Werder Bremen in the final of the UEFA Cup. He also won the Ukrainian Championship in 2010, 2011 and 2012. Furthermore he won the Ukrainian Football Cup in 2011 and 2012.

Willian moved from Shakhtar Donetsk to Anzhi Makhachkala for a deal believed to be around €35 million.
