The Yazidis are a religious community ethno syncretic religion Kurdish but old Yazidism, a sort of Yazdânism, Zoroastrianism and ancient Mesopotamian religions relates.They live mainly in the province of Nineveh in northern Iraq, a region once part of ancient Assyria and the capital of the Neo-Assyrian Empire.

Estimates put the overall number of Yazidis to 700,000 people, with the vast majority of them concentrated in northern Iraq, in and around Sinjar.

A misunderstood group historically, the Yazidis are predominantly ethnically Kurdish and have kept alive the syncretic religion for centuries, despite the many years of oppression and extermination threat.

the old religion is rumored to have been founded by a Sheikh Ummayyad from the 11th century and is derived from Zoroastrianism (an ancient Persian faith founded by a philosopher), Christianity and Islam. The religion has taken the elements of each, ranging from baptism (Christianity) circumcision (Islam) reverence as a manifestation of God (derived from Zoroastrianism) and there is still clearly non-Abrahamic traditions. This quality derived has often led the Yazidis to be known as a sect.

in the core of the marginalization of the Yazidis is their worship of a fallen angel, Melek Tawwus or Peacock Angel, one of the seven angels which take precedence in their beliefs. Unlike the fall from grace of Satan, in the Judeo-Christian tradition, Melek Tawwus was pardoned and returned to Heaven by God. The importance of Melek Tawwus to the Yazidis have been given an undeserved reputation of devil worshippers – a reputation that, in the climate of extremism adherence to the Iraq has turned deadly.

under Ottoman rule in the 18th and 19th centuries, alone, the Yazidis were subjected to 72 genocidal massacres. More recently in 2007, killed hundreds of Yazidis as a spate of car bombs ripped through its strength in northern Iraq. With a number of deaths as close to 800, according to the Iraqi Red Crescent, it was one of the deadliest Sin events to take place during the American invasion directed.

The Yazidis had been denounced as infidels Al-Qaida in Iraq, a predecessor of the goddess Isis, who punished his indiscriminate killing.
