Absolutism
Political system in which total power is vested in a single individual or a group of rulers. Originally a Catholic theological conceptualization of God's absolute power to decide over our salvation. Not to be confused with autocracy, authoritarianism, despotism, dictatorship, totalitarianism, or tyranny. In philosophy, any doctrine that posits only one correct way of explaining things. Most often contrasted to Relativism.
