Acrylic paint

It is a dispersion of pigments in a synthetic resin obtained from acrylates and Methacrylates. Acrylic paint dries when the liquid vehicle evaporates and the resulting polymer chains become deformed and unite to form the paint film. Contrary to the general belief that the acrylic paint dries very fast, the thick applications can take months or even years to fully dry. The first artistic works with paint acriclica were carried out in the 1950s, using polyresin (n-butyl methacrylate) dissolved in solvents (white spirit or turpentine) with pigments and other minor components. The next type, developed in the 1960's, was painting acrylic emulsion which is still so popular today. This is diluted (and the brushes cleaned) in water. However, once dry, the paint film is resistant to water.
