Anosognosia

A mental condition that renders the sufferer of a disability genuinely and continually unaware that they are suffering from an impairment. In extreme cases, the patients of anosognosia may be unaware that they have severe handicaps such as blindness or paralysis.

It usually occurs after severe brain injury or a stroke. It is very difficult to cure, as the patients do not realise they have a problem and will usually reject treatment.
