Autonomous reef monitoring structures (ARMS)

Structures designed to mimic the complex coral reef environment and attract colonising coral reef organisms in order to assess invertebrate biodiversity by measuring/monitoring diversity of cryptic organisms globally over time. ARMS provide standard methods for taxonomic and molecular analyses to assess invertebrate biodiversity. Information from the ARMS will provide managers with a tool to assess this diversity along with the affects of climate change and ocean acidification, globally. More than 500 ARMS have been deployed throughout the Pacific, Indian, and Atlantic Oceans.
