Autoscopy
Autoscopy is the reduplicative hallucination of "seeing one's own body at a distance" and the person sees it from the original place where he or she is sitting like a musician seeing himself sitting in front of himself. Autoscopy is sometimes used synonymously with out of body experience although there is a subtle difference between the two. In out of body experience , the person sees his own body at the same place where it is like on a bed and he / she (the soul) is observing this from a place away from the body like suspended in air or from over the roof. In autoscopy however the soul does not depart from the body and a person can literally see himself sitting in front of himself. Therefore autoscopy is also termed as autoscopic hallucination, though we cannot label out of body experience as a hallucination as the percept is real in that case like a near death person watching his own cardiopulmonary resuscitation by doctors from across the window or from near the ceiling.
