Bone meal is a white powder made by grinding either raw or steamed animal bones. A product of the rendering industry that is used as an organic fertiliser for plants and in animal feed. In most parts of the world, bone meal is no longer allowed in feed for ruminant animals (fear of spread of BSE, mad cow disease).
