Spun yarn in which some fibres do not lie parallel to the other fibres but instead are curled and kinked, forming a rough and uneven surface on the yarn. The general cause is fibre overcut to the extent that the drafting rolls catch and hold both ends of the fibre at the same time while attempting to draft, resulting in slippage or breakage.
