Compressor

A mechanical device used to compress air. An electric motor ( or a gas or diesel engine) is used to drive a pump which usually consists of a cylinder and a piston assembly. A Two Stage Compressor will have two such assemblies. Air is drawn into the cylinder and compressed by the piston. This compressed air is then either compressed again in the other cylinder or is passed to the storage tank or air receiver.
