course of fire
In a competition setting, a shooter has so many shots they can take in a limiter period of time. In Rifle shooting the course of fire is 40 shots they can take and they must take them in a 90-minute time limit. In Rapid Fire Pistol Shooting there are two courses and the shooter has 30 shots on each course. In each course the shooter has 2 series each of 8 seconds, 2 series each of 6 seconds and 2 series each of 4 seconds.
