Crexa moth
The female crexa moth is a stocky moth with long white hair on the thorax and end of the abdomen. The forewings are brown with grey and white flecks. There is a narrow scalloped band about two thirds down the wing, and a border of faint dark oval marking near the outer edge. There is a dark eye shaped marking on the centre of the forewing. The males are quite different in appearance having similar body shape but unusual transparent wings with few scales. The caterpillar is greyish brown and hairy with small red spots on the thorax and pale yellow spots on the back. The caterpillar rests during the day flattened on the stem of the food plant. It pupates amongst the foliage of the food plan.
