Crinum
Genus of about 130 species of deciduous or evergreen, bulbous perennials found at streamsides and lake margins throughout tropical regoins and Tropical Africa. Crinum is very large - the 6 in. bulb, the 3 ft tall flower-stalk and the magnificent 7 in. long trumpets in late summer. Be patience if you begin by planting a bulb - it will take several years before flowering starts. The floral display lasts 4-5 weeks. After flowering it needs to rest in a cool room or greenhouse.
