Distant signals

To give drivers advanced warning of an approaching stop signal, a distant signal is sometimes used. A green light informs the driver that the approaching stop signal is off, whereas a yellow light notifies that the approaching stop signal is on. Two yellow lights advise the driver that he must be prepared to find the next signal at caution.
