Embodiment

Pertains to the body, especially species-specific physiology and anatomy. Physiology has to do with biological morphology, which is to say body parts and organization, such as having hands, arms and (bare) skin rather than wings and feathers. Anatomy has to with internal organisation of the body. This includes the neural architecture of an organism, which is to say the brain and nervous system. The notion of embodiment plays an important role in many cognitive linguistic theories. (See embodied cognition, embodied experience, variable embodiment.)
