Geographic information system (GIS)
A method of overlaying large volumes of spatial data of different kinds. The data are referenced to a set of geographical coordinates and encoded in a form suitable for handling by a digital computer. Different data planes can be overlain, statistically analyzed, and used to make estimates of soil and land suitabilities.
