A subunit of a proteoglycan; an oligosaccharide that contains repeating disaccharide residues. One half of each disaccharide is an amino-sugar residue. Glycosaminoglycans include the sulphated chondroitins, dermatans and keratans, and the unsulphated hyaluronans.
