Graphic character global identifier (GCGID)

The GCGID identifies graphic characters defined by IBM. The GCGID definition uniformly associates arbitrary graphic character shape with an eight-character identifier GCGID. It also provides a short description for each GCGID. These are listed in the IBM document Character Data Representation Architecture, Level 1, Registry SC09-1391.
