halo effect
A psychological phenomenon whereby people's perceptions of another individual's attractiveness will influence their perception of other qualities. If you find someone attractive, you are more likely to instantly believe that they are also intelligent, friendly, trustworthy, funny etc. The opposite is also true, and is sometimes also known as the devil effect.
This bias has been shown to be present amongst all individuals and all cultures, even though people universally deny it when confronted directly. It has even been shown that jurors will give a lighter sentence to attractive criminals.
