Heteroduplex

A partially double-stranded polynucleotide in which one strand contains sequences not fully complementary to the opposite strand, e.g. mRNA, which contains no introns, annealed to the coding strand of its corresponding gene, which contains introns. Heteroduplexes are products of recombination between DNA duplexes at a region of heterology.
