men's rights movement

An activism movement that started in the 1970s during the second wave of feminism. It attempts to redress the perceived discrimination that men are subject to in relation to women. The major issues that they are involved in are child custody, reproductive rights and divorce settlements.

The movement receives heavy criticism from people who argue that while some of the issues deserve to be looked at, many of the activists use it as a smokescreen to exercise their misogynistic views. They also argue that men are still privileged compared to women and more pressing issues should be dealt with first.
