Mesh - surface (fusion)

A mesh consisting of surface (double-skin) shell elements. Surface mesh elements can be 3 or 6 noded planar, straight-edged triangles.

A surface mesh analysis simulates the flow of the melt on both the top and bottom parts of the mould cavity. Consistency between the results on the opposite sides is maintained by using “connectors” - elements with zero flow and heat resistance. The connectors are inserted automatically at locations determined by the geometric features of the model.

A surface mesh can include Midplane areas.
