Mimosa
Genus of about 400 species of annuals, evergreen perennials, shrubs, and small trees, from forest to dry savanna in tropical regions worldwide. Mimosa folds up its leaves when touched or exposed to a flame. At night the leaves fold naturally. The plant requires a medium light exposure, an evenly moist soil, and temperatures between 60 and 85 F. Use caution when handling seedlings as the plant dislikes root disturbance. Mimosa may be difficult to grow and is sensitive to over-watering. The ball-like pink flower-heads appears during the summer months.
