Orthids

Previous to 1994 this term was used to indicate Aridisols that have a cambic, calcic, petrocalcic, gypsic, or salic horizon or a duripan but that lack an argillic or natric horizon. The term was dropped as a suborder in the 1994 revision of the USDA, Soil taxonomy.
