Genus of about 100 species of rounded or upright, evergreen shrubs and small trees from tropical regions of Africa, Asia and Pacific. Polyscias are oriental trees with twisted stems and attractive foliage. The leaves are usually ferny, but the most popular Polyscias is the Dinner Plate Aralia with large rounded leaflets. Unfortunately Polyscias are not easy to grow under room conditions, and it will redily drop its leaves if the environment is wrong. The main problem is air humidity.
