Projected reality

A term coined by Ray Jackendoff.

Relates to the human construal of reality which is determined by the specifics of human cognitive, neurological and perceptual mechanisms and processes.

From this perspective, what we experience as reality is not an objective 'god's eye' view of the world, but the world as constructed by virtue of our species-specific cognitive apparatus and bodies. In this sense reality 'for us' is projected. This notion is compatible with the cognitive linguistic view of embodied cognition and stands in opposition to objectivist semantics.
