An increase in blood pressure in the pulmonary artery which carries blood from the heart to the lungs, or vessels in the lungs. It puts pressure on the right side of the heart, making it work harder than normal. Common symptoms of pulmonary hypertension include shortness of breath and chest pains during exercise.
