Pulsed amperimetric detection (PAD)

A method for detection of chromatographic eluates, especially oligosaccharides, not easily detected by other means; a cycle of less than 1s first applies a voltage across the eluate, adsorbs the carbohydrate to an electrode and oxidises it (the oxidising current is what is monitored), followed by a strong oxidising voltage which cleans the electrode for the start of the next cycle.
