Whole grains that have been milled to give a finer texture and extend shelf-life. But the process also results in a loss of vitamins, minerals, and dietary fiber. Most refined grains are enriched, which means the B vitamins and iron are added back into the grain product. But dietary fibre and some vitamins and minerals that are in whole grains are not usually added back to refined grains.
