Reverse turn

A secondary structure of proteins in which the polypeptide backbone turns sharply on itself in as few as three residues, and is stabilised by hydrogen bonds between the amide hydrogens and carbonyl oxygens on either side of the turn. Also known as a β-bend, a β-turn or a hairpin bend.
