Genus of one species from Mexico, Central America, and Florida. Rhoeo is a foliage plant. The short stems bears fleshy, lance-shaped leaves. Their colouring is unusual - glossy green or green-and-yellow above, purple below. An added feature of interest is the presence of small white flowers in purple 'boats' at the base of the lower leaves. Remove side shoots if grown as a specimen plant. It needs winter warmth and freedom from draughts.
